I visited Dame for the first time, and what an absolute gem! The space is relatively small and intimate. All the staff here are extremely friendly and attentive. Even the chef came out to ask how we were enjoying our food! I came for the Bianca menu, curated by Plant Based Papi. His Italian-inspired menu seriously blew me away. The hard work and passion he put into creating such delicious dishes shows through the great flavor and presentation. I genuinely feel so honored to have the opportunity to enjoy such wonderful food, and cannot wait to dine here again!

Date Night in Portland. Dame is a beautiful restaurant. We went here for dinner and it definitely felt like somewhere fancy that we try out if we were in SF. Mid Century Modern kinda feel to the inside which is right up my girls alley. The people who work here are super friendly and professional. When we got there we were greeted and sat right away since we had a reservation. I love trying something a little different. I've never had Carpaccio before and now after trying it at Dame, I'm totally a fan. Light texture but deep flavors due to the shaved fois gras and capers. The Focaccia was really good too. I gravitate to anything that has fennel in it so I might be a little biased. That and love bread just as much as I love potatoes. Potatoes are life after all. Heh When we went we ordered the Late Summer Risotto and the Pork Chop. I admittedly liked my girls dish just a little more than mine. It was super fally. Even though it didn't have any meat, I really enjoyed all the veggies bouncing off eachother in this pasta. I feel like some people think Risotto can get boring sometimes. A lot of times we see the same ole Mushroom Risotto a thousand times. Or maybe it's just a basic one paired with some other dish. I really like that Dame's had a lot of fun things going on within it. That being said don't get it twisted. The Pork Chop was still fire. I love the tenderness and flavors just on its own. I've never been a big polenta guy but Dame's again made me rethink my humanity. It was so creamy. What a nice alternative to the usual mashed potatoes. Salsa Verde is also a big go to when I eat Mexican Food so, paired with everything else we were definitely grubbin. Everything we had is flawless and it just makes it hard for me because pretty much every place we went to in Portland had great food. I can't wait to come back during a different season to try some more tasty meals here!

Food was delicious as always. We have been many times over the last 3 years. It is one of my favorite restaurants in Portland. Ambiance is cozy and the service is knowledgeable and attentive. My only feedback is requesting that they PLEASE bring back the Squid Ink Bucatini. It was the favorite favorite dish of me and so many friends and family, and a staple of the restaurant. The replacement dish is just not the same. I really hope they bring it back soon!!!

Had Dame on a sunday for dinner. made a reservation an hour prior and came in 20 minutes early and they were very flexible and able to seat us! We had already eaten a couple of dishes prior and wanted to top off, so we stopped by and ordered the carpaccio and squid ink bucatini. Both tasted amazing!!! the only complaint that i have is that the carpaccio filled up half of the plate for $17. on the pricier side for less imo, but it did taste very good! the carpaccio was sliced very thin, slightly seared (but cold) and had fois gras flakes and fried capers (slight taste of olive) to top it. very yummmmm! the squid ink pasta was very flavorful, quite spicy!, sour, but most of all, delicious! the noodles themselves had much flavor, the shrimp balanced out the acidity, and the bread was perfectly toasted that it paired well with the (liquidy/soupy) pasta sauce. would def come again to try more menu items!

I'm really not sure why I took so long to try Dame because WOW. The food, the ambiance, and the service. Dropped by with my husband on my birthday and had some of the most delicious food ever. We knew that we'd over-order because I always want to try so many different things but we went a little crazy here -- I do admit it. For apps, we got the bread, the cauliflower soup to share while my husband tried the crudo. Then we grabbed the cacio e pepe, the ravioli and my husband got the braised pork coppa for his omnivore self. When I tell you that we were blown away by the food, I'm not even remotely joking. I loved every bite of every single thing we had and I'd legitimately got back to Dame just for the SOUP and BREAD. Even their so called simple little offerings were incredible. The cacio e pepe and the ravioli were both absolutely perfect. Have you ever had a dish where you wouldn't even add one more grain of salt? Well that's what everything here was like. Delicate, balanced, and seasoned with thought so that each bite had the perfect amount of salt and flavor. My husband's pork came with polenta that was honestly the best cooked polenta I have ever had in my life. For dessert, we finished it off with the ricotta donuts and the panna cotta both of which were delicious -- and both of which we would absolutely get again. If you're sitting here contemplating about trying Dame, let me save you the worry and recommend that you get yourself here IMMEDIATELY. Absolutely worth the visit.

Dame is an easy 5/5. The focaccia was a good opener with the gazpacho (which was almost like a thicker, more creamy tomato bisque soup and was cool and refreshing). For entrees, the MacFarland Springs trout was amazing (I don't normally see trout on a menu so I decided to try it) and the risotto primavera was just perfect (and such a large portion that we couldn't come close to finishing it). The restaurant has a Portlandia vibe to it, kinda hard to articulate, people just being themselves and dressing in their own unique way and fashion sense. We also tried the orange wine just for kicks. They had a very particular selection of wines by the glass, which our bartender had very deep thoughts on. After dinner we walked westward on NE Alberta which has a lot of bars and restaurants strewn across it, many with a completely eclectic and individualistic design styles and cool murals along the way - very Portland. This may be an over-generalization, but there seems to be a wide life-style swath between Portland and, say, the Bay Area/Silicon Valley. There is some consideration to the joke about how people move to Portland to retire in their 20s vs Silicon Valley where people care more about stock options and the next funding round. Portlandians have elected not to participate as strongly in the rat race. It's also a mecca of great food but it's not alone in that category. I wouldn't characterize Portland as run-down, perhaps just not as built up and gentrified. It's thriving with activity and life and just ignore the axe-grinding, haters who claim Portland (and other so-called blue cities) has become a homeless, drug user disaster zone. They're not thinking clearly.
